Not for the pretentious. Beerstained and well worn. Favourite watering hole of UEA students with wide variety of regular live gigs. Pretty mixed crowd and probably the best place to go in Norwich. As the name implies it is by the river. |

During the day, it's a pretty decent pub where it's nice to sit outdoors. In the evening things hot up with lots of live music - local bands, jazz, live performances, karaoke... Lots of punters. Open until late and the crowd there is pretty mixed - people of all ages. Not for teenyboppers. Good atmosphere. See and be seen. Any day of the week. |

Much bigger inside than you first think. Loads of barspace and mixed crowd especially at weekends. Pretty good place, despite being a bit plastic and pretentious. Loads of music piped through large speakers. |

Two clubs side by side almost opposite Boswells. Popular meat markets among the younger set. Forget it if you're over 20-23 years old. Sometimes a bit too lively. If you like a somewhat tacky flash atmosphere that's a bit tattered at the edges, then this is the place for you. |
